Melbourne Anaesthetic Group

ENQUIRIES & BOOKINGS

For those looking to start or advance their anaesthetic career in Melbourne, our practice offers a range of benefits that only an established practice can.

Melbourne Anaesthetic Group is Melbourne’s oldest anaesthetic group. Established for over 70 years, we are one of Melbourne’s leading anaesthetic care providers, providing around 30,000 anaesthetic services per annum in Melbourne.

Access the experience and expertise of senior anaesthetists to help you as your career progresses. Our anaesthetists cover most surgical specialties.

The size of our practice means there will usually be someone available to cover a list when required. This also means that there will often be lists available for you to pick up when you don’t have a regular list.

We understand the importance of balancing your work and home life, and also offer the opportunity to tailor your work arrangements to suit your individual preferences. A number of our members work part time or have a mix of public and private work.

Becoming a member of Melbourne Anaesthetic Group has the following advantages:

  • Diary management for regular surgical arrangements and ad hoc requests
    We utilise Medical Business Systems
  • Experienced secretarial staff
  • The provision of Informed Financial Consent to patients
  • The provision of a full suite of accounting services
Including invoicing, receipting and debtor control
  • On-line (via computer or mobile device) access to accounts software
Including an on-line calendar with accessible procedure lists and all aspects of patient accounts
  • Covering personal leave where possible
  • CPD events (such as annual Morbidity and Mortality meetings). The rooms can also provide assistance such as with “patient experience” survey distribution.
  • Low fees, no buy-in, company limited by guarantee

Application Process

Potential members need to be nominated – it is preferable that they know a member of the group, however, they can register interest directly & be interviewed prior to potential nomination.

Applicants will need to provide their nominator with:

  1. A Letter of Introduction, detailing their current work (private and/or public) and how membership of MAG would be beneficial for both them and the group

  1. Their CV, including three clinical references (with contact details), none of whom should be MAG members.

Applications are then approved by the New Member Committee with the consent of other MAG members.

Our Fee Structure

Members are charged a monthly base fee & then a scaled percentage of their billings. Fees are periodically reviewed by the Executive Committee. New ‘provisional’ members are offered a 6-month introductory reduced membership rate.
