Dr Paul Soeding

Associate Professor Paul Soeding joined the Melbourne Anaesthetic Group in 1994. He is a Specialist Anaesthetist and a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. He is affiliated with the Royal Melbourne Hospital, and is a Principal Research Fellow in the Department of Pharmacology, University of Melbourne. After graduating in medicine in 1983 from Finders University he completed his anaesthetic training in Australia and overseas including 3 years at Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge UK.

His expertise is adult anaesthesia, particularly surgery involving neurosurgery, cardiothoracic anaesthesia, regional anaesthesia and echocardiography. He has interest in biomedical research, with multiple published works in the areas of cardiac and regional ultrasound, orthopaedic beachchair surgery, and anaesthetic pharmacology. He has presented at national and international meetings.

He is currently a mentor for PhD and postgraduate clinicians, and is actively involved in undergraduate teaching. He has provided voluntary medical care to patients in Timor and the South Pacific.
